The Winter Festival takes place every year during the last week of December. The festival celebrates the congeniality and exuberance of the people of Mount Abu, Rajasthan's only hill station. This vibrant festival of three days is organized by Rajasthan Tourism and the Municipal Board, Mt. Abu.

History :

The Winter Festival is a result of the mutual program taken by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and the Municipal Board of Mount Abu to decoy tourists and citizens to refresh them from the monotonous daily life.

Activities :

On the occasion of the Winter Festival, miscellaneous exhilarating performances are presented by the gifted artistes of Rajasthan. Folk music and dance the Gair, Ghooomar and Daph, spellbind the audience with their performances. Other programs like cricket matches, water sports, rowing competitions also form an essential part of the festivities.

Innumerable diyas or lamps are lit and set afloat on the Nakki Lake. This ceremony popularly ascribed as Deepdaan proffers an incredible sight. Many colorful processions feature in the Winter Festival. One of these parades marks the launch of the Winter Festival. The cavalcade starts from Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation's Hotel Shikhar and then proceeds towards Nakki Lake Chowk. The locals earnestly participate in it and the following events where performances are put up by the folk artistes of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana.  All the three days of the Winter Festival, a dazzling display fire works enthrall the viewers.

How to Reach :

By Air : The nearest airport to Mount Abu is Udaipur, 185 km away. Tourists can easily opt for various road transport facilities available at the airport for reaching Mount Abu. A number of domestic airlines have their scheduled flight to Udaipur, which connect the city to the major cities in the country.
By Road : Mount Abu is well-connected by roads. It is well connected to major cities like Jodhpur and Delhi. You can also travel by private car/taxi.
By Train : The railway station at Abu Road is a two-hour drive from Mount Abu and is well-connected to the rest of the country through a number of trains.
